On July 17,2019, PW & Partners Law Firm, Chilean Consulate in Guangzhou and AIA Insurance held the "EXPAT INSURANCE SEMINAR" in Pearl River Town Building.

About one month ago, a Chilean citizen almost died in a serious accident. The medical bill was mounting each day and people need to try hard to raise fund for her. The total medical cost is estimated to be over 1 million RMB. This incident shocked all expats living in Guangzhou. Expats living in China are actually quite fragile when accidents happen. Most of them do not have any protection. Had anything miserable happens, it is very hard to afford the medical bills. Therefore, the Chilean Consulate of Guangzhou felt necessary to provide their citizens in Guang dong of knowledge about insurance and law. The Consulate decided to work with Richard Zhang, lawyer of PW & Partners on this project for his long-time dedication to help expats living in China.

The seminar started at 2:30 pm. Consul Carlos Martin made the opening remarks and emphasized to each audience it was important to have protection and a backup plan when living in a foreign country. Grace Hou,senior director of AIA, made a speech to introduce this famous insurance company. Attorney Richard Zhang also introduced PW & Partners Law Firm to the audience. Richard made a speech "WHAT TO DO WHEN ACCIDENTS HAPPEN". He explained in details how the expats should prepare for accidents. Richard talked about how to handle the situation in traffic accidents, fight and other accidents. He shared some real cases with the audience who had not been exposed to the legal system of China before.

Expats from Chile, Ecuador, Columbia, India, Russiaattended the seminar. Everyone was impressed by the presentation and was happyto have such an opportunity to learn about Chinese laws and insurance.
